Pelican™ Air 1485 Knife Case

The case is a bit shallower than I expected (i have long knives, so make sure you measure yours) but it is beautiful and professional and made with great precision. I had been keeping my collection in a pick-and-pull Apache case but it looked pretty janky when I'd pull high end knives out of ragged foam. This looks awesome and feels good to know my stuff is well kept and secure. A dessicant canister fits perfectly in the top and bottom slots in the horizontal slot foam.

When I ordered my case the color I chose for my foam was out of stock. Annette took the time to email me letting me know that, and that if I wanted that color what the wait would be, or that if I wanted to have another color it could ship that day. I chose grey and it shipped the same day. Annette was great help and helped me avoid the wait. I love the case! I will be back to purchase again.

Perfect for the knife collector.

This is simply the best portable knife storage solution I have found. It can easily, safely and securely store and allow fast access to all of my favorite knives, both folding and fixed. All this in a form factor that is light and easy to carry. I love having both vertical storage and horizontal storage in a single case. This allow virtually any EDC blade to fit, and was the single biggest advantage of this case over all other options I know of, including other custom cases from Nalpak. The Air case is ~4-5lbs. lighter than other similar sized cases, which is very nice, but is a "feature" of this case that you don't get an cost option on, since this is the only case Nalpak currently offers with the both vertical and horizontal storage, which is what I wanted. Random side bonus was a nice place to put all the stickers makers and retailers love sending to you with your orders! One feature that I really wish it had was a pocket in the lid foam for a 1500D type desiccant tin (I'll probably cut one in my self). For a case that was purpose made to store metal tools, this feels like a bit of an oversight. The single biggest draw back of this case is, quite obviously, the cost. This is a premium knife case, and it carries a premium cost of just shy of $300 after shipping. I believe that this case is 100% worth that cost, but it's not inexpensive, so it is what it is. The custom foam inserts are very dense and sturdy and Pelican cases are trusted in the field by people 10,000 times harder on gear in a week than I ever will be in my lifetime. I can unequivocally recommend this case to any fellow knifenuts. I love it, I'm sure that anyone in the market for a premium, purpose designed and built knife case will too.
